CONCURSO Y DEBATE
La Oficina de Monumentos Consensuados OMC es fundada en el año 2016 por las artistas Sofia Medici y Laura Kalauz para dar forma al proyecto Monumental.
Medici/Kalauz se vieron interpeladas por el debate surgido en 2015 a partir del desplazamiento del monumento de Cristóbal Colón que estaba ubicado frente a la Casa Rosada.
Aquel debate hizo que ese monumento, mudo desde hacía varias décadas, volviera a hablar. Tanto los que estuvieron a favor, como los que estuvieron en contra del traslado, plantearon cuestiones tales como qué figura histórica debe representarnos, o cuál es el rol de un monumento.
Así surgió la hipótesis de que los monumentos no sólo intervienen y
construyen el espacio urbano, sino
también le dan forma al imaginario social y a través del tiempo colaboran con la cristalización de la ideosincracia nacional.
El proyecto Monumental se propone generar un espacio piloto, donde poder reformular las representaciones del pasado a través de un proceso dinámico.
La Oficina de Monumentos Consensuados OMC se funda para dar apoyo al proyecto ganador del CONCURSO Monumental, y permanecerá abierta para futuros proyectos.
El proyecto MONUMENTAL propone un concurso, cuyo monumento ganador será impulsado como proyecto de ley ante la legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
La OMC estará a cargo de la recolección de las firmas requeridas y de la gestiones necesarias con los legisladores, comprometiéndose así hacer todo lo posible para la realización efectiva del monumento.

The Office of Consented Monuments (OMC) founded in 2016 by the artists Sofia Medici and Laura Kalauz was created in order to give shape to Monumental project.
Medici / Kalauz were intrigued by the debate that emerged in 2015 after the displacement of the Monument of Christophe Columbus that was located in front of the Government House.
That debate made that monument, mute for several decades, to speak again. Both those in favor and those who were against the relocation, raised questions such as: which historical figure should represent us, or what is the role of a monument.
Thus arose the hypothesis that monuments not only intervene and build the urban space, but they also give shape to the social imaginary and through time they collaborate with the crystallization of the national idiosyncrasies.
The Monumental project aims to create a pilot space, where we can reformulate the representations of the past through a dynamic process.
The Office of Consented Monuments (OMC) was founded to support the winning project of the Monumental competition and will remain open for future projects.
The MONUMENTAL project proposes a contest, whose winning monument will be promoted as a bill before the legislature of the City of Buenos Aires.
The OMC will be in charge of the recollection of required signatures and the necessary negotiations with the legislators, committing itself to do everything possible for the effective realization of the monument.
